Langleybury were outfoxed in batting, bowling and fielding by Foxton CC on Sunday in Round 6 of The Davidstow Village Cup.
Foxton won the toss and were 10 runs to the good after one over. A run out opportunity was missed early on that would have seen the Foxton opener, Cei Sanderson (123*) back in the pavilion for a low score. He continued to ride his luck with 2 further run out opportunities missed and 2 catches dropped. This allowed the other Foxton batsmen to play around Sanderson and reach a total of 225 for 5 after 40 overs, with 119 coming off the last 15 overs. The only Langleybury bowlers who came out with any credit were Luke Samarasinghe with 3-25 off his 9 overs and Richard Oxley with 0-20 off 6 overs.
Langleybury couldn’t have started any worse, with Mo Manzoor bowled off the 3rd ball of the innings. This was followed by a silly run out when Nahim Amin turned for a 2nd run at the bowlers end and was run out by a direct throw from long on, when there was never 2 runs. At the halfway point Langleybury matched Foxton with 78 runs, but had lost 3 more wickets. With scoreboard pressure wickets tumbled and Langleybury were all out for 111 in the 32nd over. Only Will Oxley came out with any credit with 34.
